The following requirements must be met by the Customer before CanaryTank can be installed and operated:
Clearance requirements: The customer must provide adequate space to
install the CanaryTank container and recording system (installation on a
facility rack preferred). The systems dimensions are as follows:
CanaryTank Container
CanaryTank “standard” and “split tank” dimensions:
length: 650 mm
width: 250 mm
height: 190 mm
weight: approximately 25kg when full
CanaryTank “3D” dimensions:
length: 700 mm
width: 350 mm
height: 190 mm
weight: approximately 45kg when full
In addition, clearance should be provided for a hose connecting the
tank water evacuation outlet to the facility water evacuation system.
This outlet can be positioned on the back wall or floor of the tank
container; the requested position must be specified by the Customer at
the time of purchase.
Recording system:
500 mm x 500 mm x 500 mm per recording system (the number
of recording systems is specified in the order form).
Clearance to run cabling (power and Ethernet) to, from, and between
the CanaryTank camera and illumination module and the recording
computer.
Power and networking requirements:
Active uninterrupted power supply (UPS) to plug in the recording computer power unit and allow CanaryTank continued operation or graceful shutdown in the event of a power loss. Martineau is available to recommend UPS products to meet the CanaryTank power autonomy required by Customer.
Internet access at a minimum bandwidth of 50 Mbps per CanaryTank recording computer. Wired access is recommended to increase reliability and reduce the risk of service interruptions.
Static, WAN-accessible, IP address, to be provided by the Customer before system installation. The following ports should be open:
80 (HTTP)
22 (SSH)
443 (HTTPS)
The Customer’s IT department must not prevent the CanaryTank recording computer from running its operating system (Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS).
Other requirements:
CanaryTank should be installed away from door, high traffic areas, and bright light fixtures
The facility must be free of infrared light (light with a wavelength longer than 700 nanometers); if this is not possible, then the Customer must shelter CanaryTank from any ambient infrared light.
A remotely accessible webcam with no night vision should be available. This is to enable remote monitoring of CanaryTank physical conditions (such as water level), and to remotely help facility staff with interventions that require physical access to the CanaryTank container.
Specific requirements for operation in a fish facility:
Inlet and outlet access to the facility water circulation system
Reverse Osmosis (RO) water for initial CanaryTank filling. The outer tank of CanaryTank “standard” requires a water volume of approximately 22L, and CanaryTank “3D” requires a water volume of approximately 40L.
Regular cleaning of the observation tank in accordance with the normal facility schedule.
Basic maintenance of the sentinel population provided by Customer to be monitored in the Aquaneering/Tecniplast observation aquarium.
Maintenance of RO water level at the marked level.
